Foodstate is Green

Our new Packaging:

The best way to avoid using up materials in packaging would be not to use any packaging at all, but that's obviously not feasible given the nature of our products. So to minimize our impact on the environment we've used completely recyclable paper & plastic.

The plastic we've chosen to use for the bottles, and the labels that go along with it are wholly recyclable, meaning no modifications or alterations are required before recycling. This wasn't the case with the old packaging — which was a combination of two different composites that meant they could not be simply recycled. We did investigate biodegradable plastic as an option too, but that posed a contamination risk to our supplements and for our customer's health and safety we chose to go the recycling route.

We are however keeping a close eye on the development of packaging materials that are renewable and which will break down naturally in the soil. As soon as these become readily available, and are safe, we will utilize this green technology.

As for the paper portion - our cartons are made up of natural, recyclable products made from wood grown in sustainable forests and we’ve used cartons to make up for the somewhat dull appearance of the recycling friendly labels on the bottles – hence the “double packaging” decision, which gave us the most visual appeal with as minimal impact as possible.

Are we Carbon neutral as a company? Not just yet, but as soon as we are we will wear that badge proudly and display it all over the new packaging. As a FoodState customer you’re just as integral a part of the recycling process as we are, and we’d like to say thank you for partnering with us and for your shared concern for our environment.

Let’s keep our carbon footprint as faint as possible.
